What a match the people of Christchurch witnessed yesterday. Australia and New Zealand both the team ended their full quota of 20 overs at 214, the winner was decided by a sudden-death super over. Finally Black Caps' young bowler Tim Southee held his nerve in the breathtaking super over and clinched a super win for the host.
Earlier, in the New Zealand innings we saw the fireworks by Brendon McCullum, he showered boundaries and sixes around the stadium and scored a stunning 116 not out from just 56 balls, only the second ever century in the history of T20 internationals. In reply, Australian captain Michael Clarke and Cameron White just exploded and put up a partnership of 82 runs from just 39 balls to level the score.
Brief Score:
New Zealand 214 for 6 (McCullum 116*) tied with Australia 214 for 4 (Clarke 67, White 64*).
